KANYE WEST PERFORMS NEW MUSIC FOR FACEBOOK STAFF

Mr. West is in the building! Kanye recently debuted some new material from his upcoming album, Good Ass Job, for the Facebook staff.  Standing on a table in a fitted suit, West freestyles "Mama's Boyfriend" and "Chain Heavy," for the intimate group. 

"And as it’s been a minute since I’ve performed any fresh material in front of an audience, this could’ve been one of those moments… but it wasn’t," West commented about his unexpected table top show. "Your energy was a gift so electric, so genuine, that it really helped me give my best."

 

 

WYCLEF JEAN SETS HIS SIGHTS ON HAITIAN PRESIDENCY?

Despite claims that Wyclef Jean abused income from his Haiti Yele foundation, the rapper's family says that Clef is considering a run for office in his homeland come November 28th.  In a statement to the Associated Press his family states,

"Wyclef's commitment to his homeland and its youth is boundless, and he will remain its greatest supporter regardless of whether he is part of the government moving forward ... If and when a decision is made, media will be alerted immediately."

Wyclef has done much to bring awareness to the poorest nation in the western hemisphere, but you have to throw up a red flag after Clef's foundation paid him to perform at fund-raising events ($100,000 in 2006) and reportedly bought advertising air-time from a television station he co-owns. I'm in no way overlooking his humanitarian efforts, but something isn't right about separating the humanitarian from the artist.  Don't be spearheading a fundraiser only to turn around and line your own pockets and charge $100,000 to do a show.

TRUE BLOOD CAST TAKES OVER COMIC-CON

Over the weekend, the cast of True Blood took over the San Diego based Comic-Con Convention.  Above Anna Paquin (Sookie), Stephen Moyer (Vampire Bill), Nelsan Ellis (Lafayette), and Rutina Wesley (Tara) discussed the show during the "True Blood" panel.  Later, some of the cast hit up the Entertainment Weekly and SyFy Comic-Con celebration.

BEHIND THE SCENES OF DRAKE'S "FANCY" VIDEO SHOOT

MTV recently caught up with Drake, T.I, and Swizz Beatz during the second half of the two-day video shoot for "Fancy." The clip's directed by the famed Anthony Mandler, choreography courtesy of Fatima. Oh, you Fancy huh? Glad to see this is the next single; it's probably my favorite song off of Thank Me Later.

N*E*R*D DEBUTS NEW SINGLE "PARTY PEOPLE" DURING BROOKLYN PERFORMANCE

"Party People" is the second single from the new N*E*R*D album Nothing.  The group performed the track, along w/ first single "Hot N Fun," during a weekend concert in Brooklyn.  *rocks out*

 

AN 'INJURED' SERENA WILLIAMS ATTENDS PRIVATE BURBERRY EVENT

Serena Williams has truly stepped up her image in the past year or so.  The tennis champ looked beautiful at the Burberry garden tea held at a private residence in Beverly Hills.

I see she's still rocking a band aid on her foot...she recently canceled a World Team match against Martina Hingis citing a foot injury.  *looks at high heels and throws major side eye* Come, come now.

JOHN LEGEND, THE ROOTS, MELANIE FIONA, & COMMON REMAKE "WAKE UP EVERYBODY"

John Legend and The Roots are prepping the release of Wake Up!, an old school-inspired album featuring covers of classic songs plus original material.  The first single lifted from the album is the remake of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes' "Wake Up Everybody" and also features Melanie Fiona & Common.  

I think they all did the song justice. It's a refreshing cover that will go nicely with any summertime play list. Wake Up! is slated to hit stores September 21st.  Audio via DAJAZ1 | Imagery via RAP-UP.  

ANGELA SIMMONS & BOW WOW ON AGAIN?

Angela Simmons and Bow Wow looked rather cozy at the Trina Turk 2011 fashion show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (Swim) in Miami. 

 

The two have dated previously, but remained friends after they broke up.  Looks like their just catching up and enjoying each others company to me, but i'll stay tuned.

JA RULE, AMY WINEHOUSE COME OUT OF HIDING TO PARTY

Destiny's Child once sang, "i woke up this morning, the sunshine was shinning, i put on my happy face."  I choose to believe that both Ja Rule and Amy Winehouse listened to this track when they climbed out of bed this weekend and decided to make a public appearance. 

Ja Rule was spotted leaving Voyeur nightclub in LA after a night out with friends, meanwhile MyMy pub hopped from the 100 Club, to the Sanderson Hotel, finally ending up at Bungalow 8 Club. I don't know about Ja Rule, but at least MyMy seems to be on the come up.  She's put on about ten pounds (including the implants) and is actually wearing shoes.  

Now, can we please get back to the music?  If Ja Rule is ever going to make a comeback, the time is now, no one cares about a 50 Cent and  we were all fiendish for more Winehouse music after "Rehab."

LINDSAY LOHAN GETS NEW LAWYER AFTER SHAWN HOLLEY QUITS!

Defense attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, has been by Lindsay Lohan's side during her recent legal woes, but after Lohan was sentenced to three consecutive 30 day terms  and 90 days of rehab for breaking her probation, Holley up and quit. A source revealed to PageSix that Holley walked away out of frustration because, "she [Lindsay] won't take or follow advice. She is not returning calls, and so they haven't been able to set up meetings with her and a psychologist for her court-ordered psychiatric evaluation."

The bride to be, Lala Vasquez  Anthony, arrived at New York's Cipriani restaurant for her wedding rocking a comfortably chic look featuring Christian Louboutin flats. Meanwhile, the groom, Carmelo, arrived fully dressed for the occasion.

CARMELO ANTHONY, LALA VASQUEZ GET MARRIED TONIGHT

Melo may become a free agent after the 2010-11 season if passes on an extension with the Denver Nuggets, but he's officially taking himself off the other market today.  Anthony is set to wed  LaLa Vasquez, the mother of their 3-year-old son, Kiyan, tonight at Cipriani 42nd Street.

TABOO GETS HIS OWN SHOE, BLACK EYED PEAS COLLABORATE W/ JAMES CAMERON

Black Eyed Peas member, Taboo, was spotted on the set of the video for his shoe called Deltah for JUMP, which will be available in Foot Action Stores exclusively in August.  apl.de.ap got next!

It was just announced that the Peas are collaborating with Avatar director, James Cameron, on a 3-D concert-tour movie. The film will be shot in South America and will document the band’s E.N.D. World Tour via a Cameron devised story line.  About the collaboration, the ever humble Will.i.am tells Vibe Magazine,  "We have the biggest director because we are the biggest group on the planet.”

Now, that's a pretty bad way to start  a conversation.

KANYE & AMBER TAKE A RELATIONSHIP VACATION, ROSE IS ON TO THE NEXT

The term "relationship vacation" is about the only good thing to come from The Hills.  Anywho, US Weekly is reporting that Kanye West and girlfriend Amber Rose are "taking a break."  Their source revealed, 

"They are still good friends. Kanye is consumed with recording his comeback record in Hawaii and had to shut it all off. When he's in work mode, he can't handle a relationship. He told Amber he needs to devote everything right now to his craft."

 ...now it makes sense why Amber was all cuddled up with Reggie Bush (Kim Kardashian, who?) at Axe Lounge in The Hamptons over the weekend.  The YBF has more photos.

I was bumping M.I.A.'s leaked single "Steppin' Up" and couldn't help but say (to myself) that she was giving me "Nicki Minaj" vibes on the track.  It must have been foreshadowing, because the two ladies did collaborate for M.I.A.'s upcoming release, MAYA. Why is it that M.I.A.'s name never comes up when people talk about the hottest female rapper out right now? She's done big things...her "Paper Planes" spawned a WHOLE other top ten hit...everyone knew both "Paper Planes" and "Swagga Like Us"...still she's forgotten.

"Teqkilla" is true to it's name and is an ode to spirits and libations.  Listen closely, you may have trouble detecting when M.I.A. ends and where Minaj begins.

Ad agency, Ogilvy & Mather, just dropped a new Stoli Vodka tv commercial featuring actress Julia Stiles and...Julia Stiles (Save The Last Dance).  The whole "Alter Ego" approach works well for this commercial, i like it.  I also blame Sasha Fierce.   

LETOYA LUCKETT, KESHIA PULLIAM SPOTTED TOGETHER IN LA

Cosby House of Payne actress Keshia Knight Pulliam and singer LeToya Luckett were recently spotted leaving dinner at Mastro's restaurant in Los Angeles. 

The ladies shared a big laugh after looking at something on Toya's cell.  I really like this paring; it would be cool to see these beautiful ladies hang out more often. And is it just me, or is LeToya looking hotter than ever these days?
